The Resource Revolution Centre

The competition is designed to be as a team.

The Exception will be SEND entry as it maybe that the individual finds team working uncomfortable.

 

To design a The Resource Revolution Centre (Eco Waste Park) that embodies principles of the circular economy, sustainability, and innovation. Participants will demonstrate creativity, environmental awareness, and design thinking through their submissions.

Recycling and Upcycling Zone

Purpose: Educate visitors on proper waste segregation and innovative recycling methods. Features: Colour-coded bins for different materials (plastic, metal, glass, paper). Interactive displays showing how waste is recycled into new products. Upcycling workshops where visitors can create items from old materials (e.g., making planters from bottles). Informational signs on the benefits of recycling and upcycling for the environment.

Renewable Energy and Innovation Zone

Purpose: Showcase renewable energy technologies and innovative solutions for sustainable waste management. Features: Solar-powered trash compactors and lights. Wind turbines or micro-hydro generators demonstrating clean energy production. Displays of innovative waste solutions (e.g., converting waste into biofuels). Hands-on exhibits explaining the circular economy and sustainable technology.

Composting and Organic Garden Area

Purpose: Highlight the importance of reducing organic waste and creating nutrient-rich compost for sustainable gardening. Features: Composting stations with clear explanations of the process (e.g., aerobic composting, vermicomposting). A community garden demonstrating the use of compost for growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Workshops on composting techniques for home use. Educational materials on reducing food waste.

Education and Community Hub

Purpose: Serve as the heart of the Eco Waste Park, providing educational and community-building opportunities. Features: An open-air amphitheatre or classroom for sustainability workshops and talks. Interactive games and activities focused on waste reduction and conservation. A community art space using recycled materials to create sculptures and murals. A library or digital hub with resources on sustainability, circular economy, and climate action..

Eligibility: Open to all age groups, with entries identified as Special Needs to allow for appropriate consideration. This includes learners with physical, emotional, social, and neurodiverse needs.

Models: Physical or digital representations of the Resource Revolution Centre (Eco Waste Park).

Poster maps: Illustrated maps showing the layout of the park.

Creative presentations tailored to the individual’s strengths (e.g., storytelling, video recordings, sensory displays).

Entry Requirements:

Poster Map: A colourful, illustrated map showing the layout of their Resource Revolution Centre (Eco Waste Park).

 

Model: A physical model made from recycled materials (optional).

How the design supports sustainability.

Innovative features or technology proposed (e.g., solar bins, water recycling stations).

Circular economy principles integrated into the design.

Judging Notes

Each criterion will be scored based on how well the participant meets the expectations for their category.

Judges will provide feedback to participants to encourage learning and growth.

In case of a tie, entries demonstrating the strongest connection to the circular economy and regeneration principles will be prioritised.

  1. The competition is open to individuals and teams within the specified categories: Special Needs, Lower Primary, and Upper Primary. In schools or Homeschooling within the UK
    • All entries must comply with the guidelines provided and be submitted within the stated deadlines.
    • Special Needs entries must indicate the specific need has diagnosis to ensure fair consideration, this will remain confidential .
  2. Originality and Ownership:

    • All submissions must be original works created by the participants.
    • By entering the competition, participants confirm that their submission does not infringe on any copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.
  3. Submission Rights:

    • By submitting an entry, participants grant the organisers the non-exclusive right to use, publish, display, and promote the work for educational and promotional purposes related to the competition.
    • Participants retain the copyright and ownership of their submissions.
  4. Judging and Prizes:

    • The decisions of the judging panel are final and binding.
    • Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or other alternatives.
  5. Participant Conduct:

    • Participants are expected to engage respectfully and ethically in the competition.
    • Any behaviour deemed inappropriate or against the spirit of the competition may result in disqualification.
  6. Liability:

    • The organisers are not responsible for any damages, losses, or injuries incurred during the creation or submission of entries.
    • Participants assume full responsibility for their safety and the safety of others during the project creation process.
  7. Privacy:

    • Personal information collected during registration will only be used for the purposes of administering the competition.
    • No personal information will be shared with third parties without prior consent.
  8. Modifications or Cancellation:

    • The organisers reserve the right to modify or cancel the competition if unforeseen circumstances arise.
