Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is a super cool (well, actually super hot!) way we get clean energy from deep inside the Earth. Beneath our feet, the Earth’s core is incredibly hot, and that heat can be used to warm buildings or even generate electricity. Pipes can carry this underground heat to the surface where we can use it without burning any fossil fuels—so it’s great for the planet! It’s renewable, always available, and it doesn’t pollute the air. Imagine using the Earth’s natural heat like a giant underground battery—that’s geothermal energy!
How Geothermal Energy works

Heat from Below –
The Earth's core is super hot, and this heat naturally rises through rocks and underground water deep beneath the surface.

Energy is Captured –
The steam or hot water is used to spin turbines in a power plant, which generates electricity, or it's piped directly to heat buildings.

Hot Water or Steam is Tapped –
Hot Water or Steam is Tapped – Wells are drilled into the ground to bring hot water or steam to the surface, often from natural reservoirs.

The Water is Recycled –
After the heat is used, the cooler water is pumped back underground so it can be reheated and used again—like a natural recycling system!
