What is the Function of a Wind Turbine?

A wind turbine captures the energy of the wind and turns it into electricity. When the wind blows, it spins the blades of the turbine, much like how a pinwheel spins in the breeze. The spinning blades turn a generator inside the turbine, which then produces electricity that can be used in homes, schools, and businesses.


How Does a Wind Turbine Help the Planet?

  1. Produces Clean Energy:
    Wind turbines don’t burn fuels like coal, oil, or gas, so they don’t release harmful gases (like carbon dioxide) that cause pollution or climate change.

  2. Uses a Renewable Resource:
    Wind is endless! Unlike fossil fuels, which can run out, the wind will always be there as long as the Earth has weather.

  3. Reduces Climate Change:
    By creating electricity without pollution, wind turbines help reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which slows down global warming.

  4. Protects Natural Resources:
    Using wind energy means we don’t have to dig up or burn as many of Earth’s natural resources, like coal or oil, which are limited.

  5. Supports Cleaner Air and Water:
    Because wind turbines don’t produce pollution, they help keep the air we breathe and the water we drink cleaner.
